The White Card (CPCWHS1001) must be completed through a registered RTO. Here's how to find one near you.

What to Look for in a White Card RTO

  • Listed on the national register at training.gov.au
  • Delivers CPCWHS1001 (the correct unit code)
  • Issues a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment
  • Offers your preferred delivery mode: face-to-face, blended, or fully online (where state rules allow)

Verify Any RTO Before You Pay

Always check that a provider is registered on training.gov.au and is approved to deliver CPCWHS1001 in your state. Unregistered providers cannot issue a legally valid White Card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do my White Card 100% online? +
Most states require at least a face-to-face component for the assessment, you cannot complete the entire White Card purely online. Some states allow blended delivery where you complete the theory online and attend a short in-person session for verification. Always check with your state's WHS regulator for the latest requirements.
The course typically takes 6–8 hours depending on delivery mode and the RTO. Some providers offer full-day courses; blended providers may split it across an online pre-learning component and a shorter face-to-face session.
The White Card does not have a set expiry date, it is valid for life in most Australian states. However, if you have a significant gap in construction work, your PCBU or site may ask you to refresh your knowledge. Some RTOs and employers recommend a refresher every 5 years.
Yes, the White Card is nationally recognised. The CPCWHS1001 unit is the same across all states and territories. A White Card issued in any state or territory is valid throughout Australia.
Contact the RTO that delivered your training or the state WHS regulator for a replacement. In most states you can apply for a duplicate card online with proof of identity and your Statement of Attainment.
